Mister and Miss Efficient

I live in this amazingly efficient country. When I moved from one place to another, I went to the bank and filled up forms (yea, somehow, it surprises me that paper is still used today just to update addresses) and I was told it would be updated into the system. I believed them. I should have known better than to believe the efficient ladies and gentlemen of Maybank.

Weeks later, I look into the system and lo and behold! The system still shows my old address. Since I do not want my bills to go to the old address, instead of proceeding with payment for goods in the shopping cart, I had to cancel the transaction.

Next week, I will have to go to any Maybank I can and update the address. I might even actually have to go to only the Maybank branch where I opened my account to do this. So, that means, a day off from work to redo the task which I already did weeks back. What annoys me more is that while that gets done, I cannot purchase anything which I need to. And I am not talking about bags and clothes, I am talking about notes for exam.

It really kills me slowly to know I am living in a place where people get paid despite being inefficient. What is the cost to the country of hiring these people at the salary they are hired at today? Repetitions. Repetitions. Repetitions!!! When you are told to do something, you record it down and do it! You don't make the person repeat her instructions again!!!
