Contentment - the greatest wealth

Dilbert Cartoon for Apr/06/2012

That's a Dilbert comic from 6th April 2012.

I remember this song from the cartoon As Told by Ginger - someone once told me that grass was much greener on the other side. It wouldn't be a song in a cartoon for children if someone didn't think that children today are never satisfied with what they have.

The comic above tells us that we should be grateful for what we have because there are others who are worse off.

But is that really how life should be? In order for us to be content, should we start making comparisons with the less fortunate? If you don't believe that grass is much greener on the other side, will you ever improve in life? I think the answer to all of the three questions are - no, no and no.

I am smart enough to know the answers to what should not be used as a measure of contentment, but I am not wise enough to know how to achieve contentment in life. Yes, I am one of those who go to bed at the end of they day feeling discontented. Am I living to spend the rest of my live working?

  2. I don't think the answer to achieving contentment in life is by comparing yourself to others who are worse off. It has to be something which comes from within you. And this is where I am lost, because I don't know how to achieve it.
